Polk High Class Night Highlights 24 Graduates
Seven of Polk’s 24 graduates will attend college this fall announced at Class Night. Attendees include Margaret Gertsch and Gail Kealiher among others bound for Wesleyan York Luther and Nebraska. The event featured a Southern Plantation theme with performances, awards, and gifts including a hundred dollar war bond presented to the school.

The Polk and Swede Plain Daily Vacation Bible School enrolls 44 pupils and teachers as chimes mark the start. Officers listed include Supt Mrs Glenn Hill Music Mrs Lloyd Kroger Secy Annette Johnson and pianist Lois Johnson. Classes use work books with biblical slides daily. Public invited to the Bible School program on Sunday evening May 30 at 8 o clock.

Auto Races in Lincoln Sunday June 13
The International Motor Contest Association Midwest Championship returns to the State Fair dirt track on Sunday June 13 with over $3,000 in cash prizes and 100 entrants from 23 states. The event introduces a piston displacement based class system for closer racing, with time trials at 1 pm and racing starting at 2 30 pm. He noted last year three were killed when Memorial Day fell on Friday and urged motorists to exercise extraordinary caution to save lives.

Eighth Graders Honor Graduates at Osceola High
Several hundred attended the Osceola high school eighth grade graduation in the auditorium. The operetta Happy Days in Holland by Districts 42 44 49 51 and 65 highlighted the program with stagecraft costumes and dances. LaVern Richards played a piano prelude and Sheralee Hill read an original poem. Colors were advanced by Robert Merrick Donald Sterup and Louis Schott who presented the American Christian and Nebraska flags. Some graduates could not attend due to contagious diseases as Fred Laessle left for Scottsbluff to visit his ill mother.

Sunday closing picnic at District 66 drew about 150 attendees with Miss Betty Creech as teacher. Decoration Day services set for May 31 at Arborville Town Hall led by Rev. Lavery of York. District 89 also held a Friday picnic with Miss Margarette Miller teaching again next year.
