The First Baptist Church of Hordville hosts a Gospel service series from May 23 to 28 led by Rev. David Hammar of Flatte Valley Baptist Conference. Morning and evening services feature music and preaching, with daily children's meetings at 10:00 am starting May 24.

More than eight million pigs have been vaccinated in a ten year national effort against swine erysipelas, the largest animal disease control study in U.S. history. Conducted since 1938 under federal and state oversight, the program reports entirely satisfactory results, while urging farmers to improve on-farm management and early diagnosis to limit losses and spread to other species and humans.
