Polk residents report losses from a Sunday wind storm including Mrs Gust Lindburg barn fire and a Swede Plain church move. Advertisers note safety deposits, lawn mowers, bees and piano lessons while the town plans a new church building and Memorial Day events.
H. E. Ayres & Co of Polk Nebraska reports they are still in business after delays to a Dakota land trip. They trumpet South Dakota as the land of opportunities with expected price doubles in three years and a bumper crop outlook after heavy rains. Arrange a trip soon.
E. T. Graham of Creston Neb broke market records at South Omaha Live Stock Market by selling sixteen head of plain to fair branded western cattle for $9 per hundredweight. Average weight 1,489 pounds. Shipment sold through Clay Robinson Commission company and will be shipped east. This marks the third year Graham tops the market.
Saturday afternoon a 10 year old son of Henry Hiegebein was accidentally shot while hunting near Polk. He died instantly despite Dr Woeppel being summoned. Funeral services were held Monday as the family received community sympathy.

The Taru Polk maiden trip ran about 20 minutes late Sunday morning but nearly filled to capacity with passengers from along the line. Conductor Shaffer, a veteran railroad man, oversaw the car as 12 tickets were sold at this westbound stop. Water restrictions announced for lawn and garden use begin May 16 with fees of 1.00 per lot and 0.50 for each additional lot.
