In a local notice the Variety Store promotes discount loafers labeled as non moving stock to move them quickly. It invites Mr. Customer to shop when in town and highlights Pyrography items, dragged by bargain prices on ribbons hose brooms and more.
Specials for Saturday May 18 include 10 foot role crepe paper in all colors at 5c per role. Also horsehoe tumblers priced at 35c per dozen. Genuine star cut 9 ounce bell shaped tumblers at 10c each.
Poles of Osceola and nearby towns appear in brief items from Monday to Saturday. Rev Sawyer travels to Osceola, Mae Tenny and Fern Myers visit Central City, and a boy sells castor oil for a penny. Mr and Mrs Westfall drive to York, others attend church, visits, and store clerks arrive in town. A church sale is postponed indefinitely and Burke-Thomas Co shows new fixtures. A ten pound girl arrives at Helvey home May 9.

Mrs. F B Slusser and her two sons walked five miles Sunday afternoon to visit her sister Mrs Roy Stouffer five miles south of town. Mr Stouffer, noting their weariness, gave them a ride home in his automobile after a brief rest and visit.
Water department announces sprinkling season starts May 16 with charges of 1.00 for one lawn and 0.50 for each additional lot per month. Watered hours are 6 to 7:30 am and 6:30 to 8 pm. Violations will shut off water without further notice and a 1.00 fee to return service. Manager F W Fossure invites complaints and pledges good service.
