Sandra Aker and Leonard Warnick Exchange Vows

Leonard C. Warnick and Sandra Jean Aker were married Saturday May 17 at the Holy Name Chapel on the Great Lakes Navy Base. Attendants were Christine Ritacca and Howard Hubka. A reception followed at the bride’s parents’ home in Kenosha Wisconsin. The couple, who graduated from engine man school, plan a weeklong visit here before returning to Great Lakes.

Mrs Robert Burke Dies at Central City Hospital

Mrs Robert Burke died Saturday morning at Central City Hospital. Survived by daughter Miss Nina Burke of Stromsburg son George Burke of Central City and several sisters in law Mrs Walter Nelson Mrs Mary Salchon and Mrs Clara Johnson of San Jose California. A sister Mrs Lula Egelhoff 93 of Osceola also survives along with six grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Stromsburg.

Polk High School Sets Salutatorian Commencement

Polk High School will host the salutatorian commencement for 30 graduating seniors in the high school auditorium Thursday at 8:00 PM. Baccalaureate was held last Sunday and Honors Night Tuesday evening.

Arlyce Lind Named All-State Counselor for 1969 Session

Miss Arlyce Lind, a Nebraska junior, selected as Counselor for the 1969 All-State high school course. Over 400 youths from Nebraska and nearby states will attend June 8 to 26 on the University of Nebraska campus during the 34th year of the Fine Arts course in the Centennial Year.

Carter Flodman Betrothal Announcement

Lt. Col. (Ret) and Mrs. Daniel Ralph Carter of Colorado Springs announce the engagement of their daughter Patricia Sharon to Steven James Flodman son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flodman of Polk. Patricia studies dental hygiene at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and Steven graduates in June and will enter law school next fall. The marriage is set for June 8 at 3 30 P M at the Wesley Foundation in Lincoln and they will reside there.

Girls Softball Schedule Ages 12 and Under

The 12 and under girls softball schedule lists 10 Tuesday night games starting June 3 at Benedict and ending August 5 at David City. All games begin at 7 30 with concession stands open. support and attendance are encouraged to boost the young players.

Grandson of L C and Mrs Orendorff Killed in Vietnam

Word arrived May 9 that Kenneth L Dulley aged 26 of Palm Bay Florida was killed in Vietnam on May 7. He served in Special Forces with Green Berets after a 1967 decision to join the unit. Born August 26 1940 he married Constance in 1960 and leaves a daughter JoAnn. Burial arrangements in Arlington Cemetery anticipated.
