Longtime Couple Albin Celebrate Golden Wedding

Mr and Mrs Albin marked 50 years of marriage from 1898 to 1948 with ceremonies in San Gabriel and Hollywood. The couple lived in Washington and Osceola before moving to Santa Ana California where they reside at 2035 Maple Street. They have five children with two remaining in California Mrs Mary Mott of San Gabriel and Mrs Kathleen Zeigler of Los Angeles. A Golden Wedding dinner was hosted in San Gabriel and a family dinner in Hollywood followed by a coast to coast radio broadcast.

Friends of Music Seeks 1100 Members in Drive

The Friends of Music organization in Columbus and surrounding area launches its 1948 49 membership drive led by Otto F Walter. The campaign aims for 1100 members by the Monday May 17 deadline to support a season featuring top artists and the Trapp Family Singers. Adult tickets cost $6.00 and student tickets $3.00.

Johnsons host callers at Fred Johnson home and Widga dinner

Elmer and Lizzie Johnson served as callers in the Fred Johnson home Monday evening. Lloyd and Lester Widga hosted a Mother's Day dinner at the cafe and later hosted guests at the Widga residence where lunch was served.

Polk High School May Events Highlight Graduation Plans

In Polk, May activities include a junior senior banquet with a Dutch theme, senior party cancellation due to weather, and upcoming baccalaureate, honor convocation, class night, and commencement. Polk County Clubs Hold Meetings and Campaigns Across May

The Polk Cemetery Association schedules its annual meeting for May 26 at 2 p m in the cemetery building. The Green and White Cooking Club held a May 3 meeting at Throckmorton home with cookie judging, demonstrations, games, and a shared lunch led by Bonnie Gibbons and Anita Branting. The group touted youth memorial fundraising for the College of Agriculture campus with a $14 one hour raise led by Anita Branting and Bonnie Gibbons, backed by Nebraska American Legion posts and Polk County 4-H and Extension efforts with incentives for top collectors. The Polk County Womans Council planned a Spring Tea for May 25 at Stromsburg High School with bread bread-related demonstrations and Christmas kit showcases, featuring Clarice Bloom and Florence Atwood with Home Extension week events May 28 to June 11 at York State Home Extension Council activity near.

Highway problem to be aired at Seward

Governor Petersons Highway Advisory Committee holds a public hearing in Seward on Friday May 14 to gather Nebraskas views on road needs as engineers survey the states highways and prepare a long range plan. The 385 member committee will present findings to the 1949 Legislature and seek input on financing options. Voting delegates for the business meeting were chosen: Mrs Alvin Burke Miss Nelle Wisely and Mrs Alfred Grossnicklaus.

Mr and Mrs Kenneth Davis left Monday for Oroville Washington to spend the summer visiting Mrs Davis parents. Mr and Mrs Elmer Hanquist and Imogene and Mrs Emma Anderson spent Tuesday in Omaha on business and visited Miss Winnie Linder. Mrs C R Peterson were Friday evening guests at supper of their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Rodger Gustafson and family.
