Baccalaureate Weekend Visits In Swede Plain Community

Sunday and Monday gatherings follow Baccalaureate services as families from Hordville Clarks Stromsburg York and Lincoln share meals and coffee visits. Price Support Dates Set For 1966 Crops

ASCS Chairman Richard C. Sealey announces improvements to the price support and loan program. Changes include eliminated advance applications and later loan maturity dates for most crops, effective in 1967 for 1966 crops. Loan eligibility now extends up to one month before maturity. unused loans may be bought by the CCC with producer notification. Maturity dates vary by crop, with several crops set for March and April closures and others in June and July.

Freeman Increases 1967 Wheat Acreage Nationally

Secretary Freeman announces a 15 percent rise in 1967 wheat acreage, setting a regular allotment of 55 million acres and an effective total of 59.3 million with small farm adjustments. Farmers may plant an extra 7.7 million acres for harvest in 1967, aiming to lift farm income.

Swede Plain WSCS Meeting Highlights May 11

The Swede Plain WSCS met Wednesday May 11 with devotion by Mrs Reuben Ehn and business led by president Mrs Lester Widga. Officers installed by Rev Jensen. Members received corsages for perfect attendance and outgoing officers gifts. A piano solo by Mrs Willard Adelson and baby and life membership pins were presented. May Day themed decorations and lunch rounded out the gathering.

Harless Family Visits Highlight Polk County News

Mr and Mrs Bernard Harless of Pinola California stayed with Grace Harless last week. They dined with Leland Harless and visited Stroms burg relatives. A Sunday sendoff to Kearney capped the trip. Francis Kreuzburg of Pawnee City also stayed with Glen Babcock Friday and Saturday.
