Clyde H. Green youngest son of Wr and Mrs James Green Jr was born September 10 1889 at Fyakley Kansas and died May 10 1945 at age 56. He moved to Nebraska at age five and lived in Polk County. He married Ruth Almira Tinker October 29 1913 and had five children. Survived by wife Ruth one son Homer four daughters Geneva Cantrell Violet Munn Arlene Virginia five grandchildren five brothers and two sisters. Interment at Polk cemetery Brauer Funeral Home in charge. The Polk Methodist Church service was led by Rev A C Bates.

County Extension News Sewing Meetings and 4-H Club Formed
Two sewing machine attachment meetings are set for May 22 at Stromsburg High School and at a hotel in Osceola, both at 1 00 PM. Attendance is limited and seekers should notify the extension office. A Throckmorton home gathering organized a 4-H Club with officers Ann Bowe President, Rosslyn Kennedy Vice President, Joann Eklund Secretary Treasurer, Merna Quick News Reporter and members listed. The club selected Learning to Sew as a project. Osceola 4-H War Activity Club members Bob Peterson and Larry Snodgrass will collect waste paper at courthouse offices twice weekly to aid war efforts. Paul Swanson's 4-H Daily Judging Demonstration drew 100 percent attendance plus one new member, prompting a repeat session at the Lysle Hopwood home later in the month. All 4-H youths are invited to improve judging skills.

Polk teachers decide not to return for 1945 46 term
All but three Polk public school teachers accepted contracts for the 1945 1946 term. School board officials announced Tuesday that coach Paul Eliott, former mentor at David City and Tekamah, Locelyn Stromberg, commercial instructor, and Mildred Anderson, seventh and eighth grade teacher, declined to sign new contracts.

Polk Rural Field Day Draws 165 Pupils from Ten Schools
Polk High School hosted the Rural Field Day with about 165 pupils from ten rural schools despite threatening weather. Thirty events awarded ribbons and cash prizes. District 65 Hamilton County led with the most points, District 70 Polk County placed second. Free ice cream was served by the Commercial Club.
