The Polk Public Schools board approved a joint community and staff written philosophy and objectives on May 3. The document guides education toward lifelong learning, active student participation, critical thinking, and individualized academic and vocational needs with standards for staff, facilities, and community involvement.
The County Board approved canceling certain outstanding warrants and directing the Treasurer to issue tax sale certificates for delinquent real estate three years or more. The board will reconvene May 18 1971 after approving motions by Johnson and Peterson with all members voting affirmatively.
Mrs Emma Johnson hosted a Thursday coffee with guests Mrs Oscar Sundberg Mrs Mae Fel ton and Mrs Hannah Bodine. Stillwater Oklahoma visitors Mr and Mrs Myrl Stewart stayed overnight with Mr and Mrs Neill McNaught. Sunday supper guests from Ohio Mr and Mrs Edward Hafer and Denice joined the Lee Hanson home in Stromsburg.
