Local Court Reports Eight Light Violations Issued

Carl Carlstrom of Polk cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. Lauren Glasser and Darold Hoffman of Polk charged with failure to stop and no inspection ticket for a farm truck. Each offense carries fines of $10.00 and $4.00 respectively. Eight light violations were issued.

All Sports Banquet Date Set for May at High School

The All-Sports Banquet will be held Saturday evening May 8 in the high school auditorium at 6 30. Parents and friends are invited to attend the program and crowning of the King and Queen after the banquet at about 7 30.

Mr and Mrs Roland Rodine were honored on their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house held Sunday May 2 at the Evangelical Free Church. Hosted by their children Dianne and Donna of Lincoln and Duane, the event featured Gene Jones as master of ceremonies, a Jones trio performance, poems and songs, a pink themed serving table, and a supper for out of town guests.

Bills Sets Milford Meet Long Jump Record

Kenneth Bills, Polk High senior, set a new Milford Invitational long jump record at 20 ft 7 in. His 2 mile relay team, Randy Neuhaus, Lawson Reckner, Victor Bender and Bills, won in 8:49. The freshman relay team of Flodman, Lindburg, Flodman, and Hudson won the 440 relay in 50.3 seconds.

Engagement announced for Vicki Moody and Dan Tyler

Mr and Mrs Louis Moody of Sydney announce the engagement of their daughter Vicki Moody to 2Lt Dan Tyler son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Tyler of Polk. Vicki trained as a hairdresser in Sydney and came to Nebraska in March. Dan Tyler a Polk High School graduate attended the University of Nebraska before joining the Army Aviation Program. He is a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and now at Fort Benning awaiting Infantry Branch School. They plan to marry at United Presbyterian Church Central City after his course ends in June.

Lois Johnson Presents Research Paper at National Conference

Dr. Lois Johnson, Lincoln Public Schools principal, presented a research paper at the National Association of Elementary School Principals conference in Cleveland April 17 22. She also chaired the nominating committee at the Association for Childhood Education International study conference in Milwaukee April 11 16. Johnson is daughter of Philip Johnson of Polk.

Mr and Mrs Robert McDonald of 1021 Grant St York Nebr are new parents to a boy born April 19 1971 at York General Hospital Troy Eugene weighed 12 lbs 6 oz and measured 21⅞ inches. Maternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs Arthur Doremus of Polk and Mr and Mrs Eldon Johnson of Osceola who were Sunday dinner guests at the Earl Stevens home.
