Polk Community Club Seeks Fund for Scoreboard

The Progress publicizes a $963 scoreboard fund with donations welcome. Don Ostberg gave $10 last November, totaling $974 in an envelope. About $300 more is needed for a football scoreboard, with an estimated $2000 needed for both baseball and football use.

Immanuel School Tracks Zion Lutheran In Dual Meet

Immanuel Lutheran School and Zion Lutheran of Thayer met in a dual track meet on May 14 in Thayer. Both schools had similar enrollments and points with Immanuel tallying wins in blues reds and whites. Eighth graders Allen Blase Janis Schulze and others led in events. diplomas will be awarded May 23 after a chapel service and closing program May 21 with outdoor games to follow.

Deryl Reed Appointed to Welfare and Legislative Roles

Rev. Deryl Reed named to the planning committee for the fall Social Work Institute at the Continuing Center of Education by the Nebraska Welfare Association. He also serves on the Legislative Committee and has appeared before committees on 18 welfare bills and 35 indirect services bills.

Polk Qualifies In Four Have You Noticed Events For State Meet

Polk High Cubs will enter four events at the state track meet in Kearney after district results in Hastings. Kenny Bills scored 20-4 in long jump, Tom Mundt won the shot put with 44-10. Kent Anderson set a PHS discus record at 143-7, and the two mile relay won in 1:522. Third place by the Cubs district score 34. Humphrey led districts with 39, Silver Creek second with 35.

Recreation Fund Seeks Money for Summer Games
