The Home Society Club met on Wednesday April 21 with 11 members and 3 guests. Officers elected were President Ann Kisler Vice President Mae Johnson and Secretary Treasurer Lydia Peterson. Evelyn Shenk won high Bunco and Esther Steele took low. Next meeting set for May 19 with Esther Steele. Also notice about a Bloodmobile visit to Polk Grade School Auditorium May 27 from 10 am to 2 pm.

The American Legion Auxiliary met in the Legion hall on Monday evening May 10. Velma Stephens opened the meeting and reported on the child welfare tea held April 22 in Osceola. Alvertus Jones spoke about the junior conference at Cedar Bluffs May 8. New officers were elected for the coming year: President Ern Myers, vice president Donna Werner, secretary Theresa Van Ostrand, and treasurer Lauretta Neuhaus.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Honors Mrs Ferrand at Founders Day
Epsilon Sigma Alpha presented its annual service award to Mrs William Ferrand during the founders day dinner at the Lamplighters Motor Inn. Ferrand, a 12 year sorority member and president of the Alpha Nu chapter, serves on the Douglas county Muscular Dystrophy executive board and is the former Glennis Widga, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Widga.

Nebraska State flags presented to schools during May event
Auxiliary members presented two Nebraska state flags to the grade and high schools as Gov Morrison's proclamation requires. Supt Walter Nielsen received the flags from Mrs Dean Myers Mrs Arnold Neuhaus and Mrs Wilfred Stephens. The next day the high school gathered to raise the flag and pledge allegiance led by Delores Willits.

Bloodmobile to visit May 27 at grade school auditorium
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the grade school auditorium on Thursday May 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers support life saving blood. whole blood has no substitute. In the Nebraska Iowa Kansas region the program serves 78 chapters and 125 hospitals, needing at least 224 pints daily five days a week to maintain a safe inventory.

Moonlight Prom Theme Dazzles Seniors and Guests
May 8 prom featured junior hosted banquet titled In the Misty Moonlight with midnight blue and silver decor. Lois Willis gave a welcome, Delores Willits offered thanks, Allan Neuhaus presided, and Mr. Thompson spoke of The Future is Yours. The Portland Four performed Moon River and humor.

Style Show By Home Economics Department Presented
The home economics department presented a style show on May 5 with a science display directed by Mr Nabity and a one act play by the speech class. 7th grade girls modeled shifts and jumpers, 8th grade chose shifts or jumpers with zippers, 9th grade wore cotton jumpers with or without set in sleeves, and seniors featured more complex garments with linings and zippers. Mrs Rowlison is instructor.

Cancer Crusade Drive solicitors listed for rural areas
Solicitors were named for the 1965 Cancer Crusade Drive in East and West Pleasant Home precincts. 139 homes in 63 sections were visited and $140 contributed. Mrs Richard Sealey Jr led in West Pleasant Home. Mrs Clifford Bowman led in East. Thanks extend to all volunteers and the Folk County Woman's Club for support.

End of year activities set for Polk schools
Polk schools announce end of term events for 1965 seniors with dates May 14 to May 21. Baccalaureate May 16 at 8 p.m., class night May 18, commencement May 20, and a noon school picnic May 21 at the park with indoor option at the grade school gym. Speakers include Val Peterson and Rev. Jensen.
