Grasshopper aid aid for farmers and local events merge

Federal aid received will help farmers control the grasshopper plague when needed. Enoch Peterson attends his daughter Gloria’s wedding in Los Angeles, as Orville Haggerstrom is to marry on May 15. Local items include a village board re election of Oscar Strand, a six cottage camp plan, and community orchestra patriotic program at the M E church on May 17.

Family set for Sweden voyage from New York City

The Kroger family plans a May 19 departure from New York City for a trip to Sweden. Mrs Will Kroger attended a Mother's Day banquet at Central City last Thursday evening. Miss Nancy Norquest earned a nursing cap among 43 at St Luke's Hospital in Denver on April 18. Polk county exceeded its cancer drive quota with a total of $187.85 to date. A Mothers and Daughters Tea was hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon. Several families including the Flodmans and Linds gathered for Flodman home Sunday. H M Benson returned home Friday after weeks in Omaha with his son.

Knerr Couple Honored With Golden Wedding Reception

Elmer and wife Mrs. Knerr celebrated their golden anniversary with an April 28 open house at the Chappell Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Nearly 200 guests attended with outsized family support and a (lace-over-gold) cake display.
