A public hearing for Polk County residents on the Nebraska Court System will be held Thursday May 12 at 2 p.m. in the Polk County Courthouse district courtroom Osceola. Dan Hanson of the National Center for State Courts will conduct the hearing with B J Cunningham of Grand Island as local arranger. Citizens may attend or submit written comments to the Court Study Committee 1019 Sharp Building Lincoln 68508.
Orlie William Miller died Tuesday April 26 at Lutheran hospital Grand Island Nebraska born March 19 1904 in Polk Nebraska to William P and Anna L Rudson Miller he farmed all his life married Garnet Samuels March 19 1924 in York survived by wife Garnet two sons Dwayne and Dén one daughter Geraldine Kealiher one brother Floyd ten grandchildren eight great grandchildren and was preceded in death by a grandchild services were held April 28 1977 at First Baptist Church Polk with Rev Al Magnuson officiating pallbearers listed and burial at Arborville Cemetery
The Munn family reunion held Sunday featured a picnic at Polk Community Hall. Honored guests were Mr and Mrs Frank Munn of Eugene Oregon Mr and Mrs Jack Munn of Cambria Missouri and Mrs Jerry Carolson of Ma con Missouri. Attendees hailed from Maxwell Hastings Grand Island Avers Central City Palmer and Polk.

Mrs Carol Green returned to Annie Jeffrey hospital last Thursday for tests. Mrs Richard Sealey Sr. entered Clarkson hospital in Omaha Friday evening. Mr Robert Brazda is a patient in York hospital. Mr Frank Cohagan entered York hospital on Monday.
Pastor and Mrs Al Magnuson and their family entertained Mr and Mrs Wallace Sandell to dinner on Friday evening.
Polk parents urged to attend the kindergarten roundup at the elementary school on Monday May 16. A school readiness survey will assess each child’s development to help decide fall enrollment. Rick Flodman earned Dean's List honors for the second quarter at Southeast Community College Milford with a 95 percent average. He studies Machine Tool and Die and is the son of Mr and Mrs Wayland Flodman of Polk.

To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Mr and Mrs Claude A Stroimberg of Clarks will be honored with an open house on Saturday May 7 from 2 to 5 at the Ole Barn two miles west of Clarks. Hosted by their six children and families, the couple farmed near Clarks before retiring in 1974 and now reside in Clarks with two grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
