Mrs Due Plays Santa Claus on Hawaiian Island Trip

Mrs Orpha Due of York former Polkite acted as Santa Claus taking 20 relatives and friends on a 15 day trip to three islands of Hawaii. The group included her son Kenneth and wife from Reno and the Mills couple from Osceola along with relatives from Nebraska Wyoming and Colorado. She said I made the group real happy but I was the happiest of all.

Mrs Myrtle Vogt 8 a former resident of this community died Wednesday April 20 at a Lincoln nursing home. Survivors include her son Kenneth Vogt and family of Dayton Ohio and a daughter Ralph Reed and family of Lincoln. Graveside services were held in Lincoln on Saturday April 23. She was aunt to Vera Blase and Mildred Norquest.

Rural Cancer Drive Nets $227 In Precinct

Pleasant Home rural residents contributed to the April Cancer Drive totaling 227 dollars. Mrs Harry Anderson led volunteers, with Mrs Clifford Bowman raising 53 dollars, others aiding included Mrs Richard Sealey Jr and Mrs Leslie Adelson. Gratitude was extended to volunteers, rural families, the Faithful Workers Club, and memorial gifts in memory of Mrs Irene Widga.

Emma C Johnson 88 of Polk died April 16 at a Central City care home. Born December 1, 1888 in Polk she was daughter of Henry and Anna Sundberg. She married Axel Johnson in 1915 and lived in Genoa Valparaiso Polk then Central City Rest Home. Survived by daughter Delores Hans son Myron siblings six grandchildren seven great grandchildren. funeral April 20 at Evangelical Free Church with Rev Willis Pauls officiating.
