County 4-H Camp Planned by Polk County Council

From the County Agent 4-H Council plans a Polk County 4-H Camp replacing the district Seward camp. The council set dates for county activities including the mid April Speaking Contest and a beef clipping school at Irvin Beckstrom farm. Eight Polk County Junior Leaders attended the District DI Junior Leader Conference with members Janean Beckstrom and Rodney present.

Community Dinner Guests Share Weekend Visits

Mr and Mrs Dwight Burney and Mr and Mrs Walter Binford were dinner guests in the Irvin Anderson home Friday. Mrs Jim Warren and Beverly Koelling of Omaha spent the weekend with Rev and Mrs Harold Koelling.

4-H Grooming Demonstration At Irvin Beckstrom Farm

A 4-H grooming demonstration was held at the Irvin Beckstrom farm on March 19 by the Boxer Baby Beef Club and Kreekateers 4-H Club from Silver Creek with leader Mr. Bob Tooker. Polk County Agent Glen Krohn and club leaders Mr. Glenn Dobberstein and Mr. Bob Tooker explained rules and operations while members used clippers. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Ed Dobberstein and Mrs. Irvin Beckstrom. Lyle Lindgren, Reporter TF.

Cancer Crusade Set For April Health Drive

President Johnson proclaims April Cancer Control Month urging annual health checks and immediate tests for seven signals to curb cancer deaths. Polk County chairwoman Mrs. Perry N. Sapp lists precinct chairs across Stromsburg, Pleasant Home, Island, Clear Creek, Canada, Osceola and more. A wedding in Lincoln draws local attendees including the Fredricksons and Flodmans.
