Pancake Supper Aids Polk Community Club Fund

The Polk Community Club hosted a pancake supper with 195 attendees and serving from 5 30 to 7 30. Fifteen gallons of ready mixed batter and a Merwin Carlson griddle produced pancakes of varying sizes while Lyla Meerkatz reported 47 memberships and 95 dollars donated to the Community Hall Fund. Donations from Gordon Fossberg 25 dollars M G Lindburg 20 dollars and Beulah Gustafson 50 dollars were also recorded. Eight pancakes set a single person record.

Citywide canvass to raise funds for ARC unit Polk County

A Sunday 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. door to door drive organized by the mayor and local 4-H and scout groups. Volunteers will distribute tootsie rolls for 30 cents and collect donations for the ARC unit association for retarded citizens. Miss Lillie Lind was honored on her 80th birthday by 14 Ambassador Sunday School ladies from First Baptist Church at Mrs Walter Nelson home. A social afternoon with lace table setting featured green and yellow decorations and a birthday gift for Lillie. Special guests included Mrs Esther Morgan and Mrs Ken Burke. Various local couples attended as dinner and all day guests of Harold Carlson.
