Eligibility covers all residents in the blood region and replacements may be arranged in writing with Mrs Paul Strand. Blood pressure screening offered. No appointment needed.
Elwood Tewell returned home from Central City hospital on Sunday afternoon. Mrs Mary Salchow entered Central City hospital on Saturday. Don and Esther Anderson of Vinton Iowa visited Enoch Peterson and Esther Morgan through Thursday. The Swede Plain Methodist and Stromsburg Methodist congregations shared services and a dinner. Ada Stephens celebrated her birthday at Jo Strand’s with Edna Lenz Alma Lampshire and Vera Blase attending.
Local notice seeks boys aged 15 to 17 to join a ball program. Interested youths should contact Tony War nick promptly for details and enrollment.
The Polk Community Club hosts a pancake supper this Saturday March 20 at the Community Hall with serving from 5 p.m. Tickets are 150 for adults and 1 for children 12 and under. Sausage coffee and a soft drink provided. Club dues may be paid at the event.
The Blackwood Singers, younger members of the Blackwood Family, perform Sunday at Polk High School auditorium at 1 30. The living legend group offers a free will offering with no admission charge, invited by Polk United Methodist Church.
The March 12 filing deadline produced eight candidates for the three seats on the school board: Dennis Johnson Roger Merchant Robert L Hopkins Ronald L Adams Karen Harrington Rod ney L Werner Lynn Sundberg and Gaylord Dose. Dean Myers seeks re-election to the village board with two seats open. County races feature Dale Lindburg and Wendell Appleton on the Republican line and Burdette A Flodman seeking re-election on the Democratic ticket. A liquor by the drink proposition appears on the Polk Nebraska primary ballot.
A senior citizens card party is set for Tuesday March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in Legion Wall. Participants gather for games and social time.
Plans for the Polk High School Alumni banquet are announced for Saturday May 29 at 6 30 in the elementary auditorium. The Immanuel Lutheran Church women will serve. Committees include Program class of 1974 chair Marla Glasser, Decorations class of 1969 chair Donette Shenk, Nominating Donald Hanquist and Roland Bodine, Invitation Barb Kennel et al, Tables and Chairs class of 1967 chair Neal Van Housen, and honors for classes spanning 1916 to 1976. The Polk County Association for Retarded Citizens officially organized March 9 with nine attendees at United Methodist Church in Polk. Rev. Robert Hopkins acts as President Ruth Lux as Secretary and eight members sit on the Board of Directors. A dues system and a March 22 social auction invitation are announced with a follow up ARC meeting planned.

A Bicentennial Committee meeting to plan the National Bicentennial Wagon Train visit to Polk County is set for the Osceola city building on Monday March 22 at 10 a.m. All interested persons are invited to attend this one time event.
