The Red Cross Bloodmobile will travel to Polk at the American Legion Hall on Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Local volunteers will contact donors this week and call Mrs. Dean Myers or Mrs. Paul Strand to schedule or offer blood donation. Blood donation supports life and can occur every eight weeks, up to five times a year.
Families of the American Legion and Auxiliary are invited to a pot luck fellowship supper at 7 p.m. on Friday March 20 in the Legion hall to celebrate the Legion birthday.
The Polk Community Chorus presents The Glory of Easter this Sunday at 8:00 in the high school auditorium. Ronald Foote Jr will conduct a 36 voice choir with pianist Mark Sandell and narrator Ronald Foote Sr. Soloists include John Nyberg Willi Foote Reverend Gene Wood Paula Bills and Carla Myers. A free will offering will be collected.

Bright Shelby seeking County Commissioner First District Democrat ticket Phil H Nyberg Osceola filed for County Attorney Republican ticket Louis R Scow for Director Polk County Rural Power District non political ticket and William H Norton for Board of Regents of University of Nebraska.
Polk Community Club raffled four quarters of beef raising 1536 dollars for the Warren Bedient Kidney Fund. Winners: Vern Skinner Clarks, Darwin Hahn Osceola, Timmy Benson Kearney, Melvin Bender Polk. Drawing by Virginia Miller at a Monday meeting. Donations total shown and continued contributions expected.
Polk Public Schools Music Department stages Oliver at the high school auditorium this Wednesday evening under Ronald Foote Jr. The production features a large cast of over 60 students with admission priced at 1 for students and 1.50 for adults.
The Progress reports five candidates for the two school board seats in the election on Tuesday April 7: Mrs. Tom Harrington Roger Merchant Gilbert Lampshire Robert Clymer Robert Brarda. Incumbents Dale Lindbury and Richard Sealey Jr are not seeking re election. The three incumbents on the village board of trustees N. E. McNaught Lyle Dornburgh Vern Jones have filed for re election.
Gail Widga daughter of Mr and Mrs Donavin Widga has been chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary of Polk as their delegate to Girls State in Lincoln this June Patricia Ostberg daughter of Mr and Mrs Dean Ostberg was named alternate
The Pork Woman's Club held two farewell events for Mr and Mrs Miss Stewart on Tuesday evening March 3 at a York cafe. Guests included members husbands. St Patrick's Day theme featured green decorations and a short program with Mr Oscar Sundberg speaking. Mrs P W Aker gave a club gift to the honored couple. Games followed.
Fourteen members of the Polk Garden Club honored Mrs. Mirk Stewart at a farewell party held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ewart Klingsporn. The group enjoyed bingo and a social hour followed by lunch served by several hostesses.
The Polk Woman's Club met Tuesday afternoon March 3 at a member home with nine members and one guest Mrs. Mervin Samuels present. Mrs Strand led the business session and a summer reading program was discussed. Guests Mrs Helen Mundt and Mrs Carl Mundt joined Wednesday coffee with Mrs Martin Baack.
