Polk United Methodist Lenten Services Schedule

Polk Cubs Clinch Regional Win for State Tournament

Polk High Cub basketball earned a 64-49 regional playoff victory over Petersburg at Fullerton to advance to the state Class D tournament in Lincoln. They meet Clearwater at noon Thursday in Johnson Gym, Lincoln.

Bridal Shower Honors Miss Leanne Glad

Miss Leanne Glad of Lincoln was honored at a bridal shower on February 28 in the Evanglical Free Church parlors. About 32 guests attended and gifts were opened after games. She will marry Leo Schife of Seward on March 20 at the Evangelical Free Church in Polk.

Hospital notes from Aurora and Central City facilities

Mrs Wm Blender admitted to Aurora hospital on Sunday. Elwood Tewell returned home from Lutheran hospital Grand Island and was admitted to Litzenberg Memorial hospital Central City on Saturday night. Mrs Alvin Eisler had surgery Tuesday at Fort Riley Kansas. Mrs Kisler is the former Sally Norquest.

Dearkling and Johnson Take Ownership of Central City Clinic

Dr L L Dearkling and Dr C R Johnson announce they become sole owners of Central City Veterinary Clinic and R Bar J Inc effective March 1 1976. Dr R S Barnett retires from the Central City Veterinary Clinic. The clinic will continue to provide farm animal and small animal services.

Fire fighting school enrollment climbs to 33

The fire fighting course in the Polk fire hall draws 33 students with the instructor seeking more. It covers different fires and plans to study metal fires next week. The program runs for ten weeks.

Blackwood Singers To Present Program At Polk High

The Blackwood Singers, younger Blackwood family members led by R W Blackwood Jr, perform at Polk High School auditorium Sunday March 21 at 8 p m. A family gathering was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Dahlin on Sunday March 7 to honor their 25th wedding anniversary which occurred March 4. Bloodmobile to Visit Pork March 29 at Legion Hall

The Bloodmobile will be at the American Legion Hall in Pork on Monday March 29 from 10 30 a.m. to 3 15 p.m. Blood pressure screenings will be offered during the same hours and the service is free.
