Reception Held at Carroll Erickson Home

A reception at the Carroll Erickson home south of Hordville celebrated the marriage of Sherman Jones and his bride. Guests from Polk Grand Island Wamp ton Central City and other area towns enjoyed readings music a lunch and a short program conducted by local residents.

Shower Honors Miss Annette Larson of Stromsburg

A Saturday evening shower for future bride Miss Annette Larson of Stromsburg was hosted by Mrs. M. G. Lindburg with hostesses Mrs. Chas Todaro and Mrs James Lindburg. About 50 guests enjoyed games a solo by Miss Jean Aker and a reading by Mrs Ilenry Worstman. Yellow and white decor featured jonquils and tapers as gifts arrived from out of town guests.

Arlene Green Weds Vern Eklund in Polk Church Ceremony

Miss Arlene Green daughter of Mrs Ruth Green Polk becomes bride of Vern Eklund son of Mr and Mrs Gus Eklund York in a double ring ceremony at the Church of Christ parsonage conducted by Rev G St Miller. Maid of honor Ann Ekhind wore gray with pink white carnations. Best man Carl Eklund assisted. The couple plans to live in York after a short wedding trip.

Nebraska Contributes 110 Cars to Friendship Train

The Abraham Lincoln Friendship Train, the largest relief train to date at 283 cars, carried diverse goods from Nebraskans including 110 cars from Nebraska and 10 from Lincoln. Chancellor Gustavson lauded the community’s generosity, noting its value in goodwill beyond dollars.

Ruling Reversed on Licensing of Farm Trailers

The Attorney General opinion on licensing farm trailers over 3000 pounds has been reversed. County treasurers will refund farmers who paid the commercial trailer fee for 1948 provided license plates are returned. an X trailer plate will be issued at two dollars. The change centers on using the trailer rather than capacity to determine classification.

Polk County spent 209653 dollars on Series Bb F and G U S Savings Bonds in February, with 17726250 dollars in FE Series for individuals. Nebraska total February bond sales reached 13438446 dollars, up about 195000 from January, as payroll and bank plans promote monthly purchases and payroll savings.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed by Mr and Mrs John Johnson
