Pupil Spelling Contest Team Names and Spring School Notes

Students Layne Hanquist Cheryl Samuelson and Leanne Sundberg will represent Polk County Spelling Contest on March 19 with Sundberg as alternate. The eighth grade studies cover the 1930s, Europe and Asia forthcoming, while social studies review includes Sam Houston Alamo and Oklahoma settlement. Chickenpox affected attendance as eighth graders recorded voice tapes and seventh graders finished Europe study.

Reunion of Polk School Alumni Lingers in Kearney Homes

Mrs Emma Horstman and Mr and Mrs Bruce Cowgill of Monroe visited the Neal Gallant home in Kearney Sunday. The group included Alvin Rizer of Geneva Robert Strickland of Cedar Rapids and other former Polk schools teachers who shared a reunion. Mrs Rose Schweitzer returned home after visiting her sister Mrs Emma Horstman in Geneva.
