Sourdough Day Set For March 26 In Polk

Sourdough Day on March 26 will feature a menu and activities at the Polk event. The Commercial Club held a members and wives meeting on Monday to plan the festival. After dinner at the Corner Cafe attendees moved to the community hall for school musicians and a brief bus tour. The Baptist Women’s Mission Circle met March 11 at 2 p.m. Devotional led by Mrs. Wendell Shaw. Officers elected: president Mrs. Don Hanquist, vice president Mrs. Wilbur Whitacre, secretary Mrs. Dwayne Miller, treasurer Mrs. Levar Sandell, pianist Mrs. Dale Lindburg. An all hostess lunch followed.

Birthday Club Holds Social and Swears in New Officers

The Birthday Club met at Ella Cramer’s home with cake for Margaret Jones and Edith Benson. New officers were elected: President Margaret Jones, Vice President Frances Widga, Secretary-Treasurer Helen Samuels, and News Reporter Ella Cramer. A pot luck lunch followed a Bingo celebration and plans for Sour Dough Day were outlined. Relatives mourn Ralph Ecton of Oxnard, California. Deacons met at Walter Nelsons with Rev Gene Wood in attendance. Park Avenue Birthday Club honored Mrs Marvin Fredrickson with Password and a two course lunch.

Science display features in Ithaca school classroom

Relatives received copies of the Ithaca Daily News with a feature on Mrs. Donald Igiehart’s 8th grade room. She was chosen from 19 teachers to have her class’s 3D gravity display showcased. The new Ithaca school sits on 15 acres with carpeted classrooms and hallways.

Miss Stewart to Represent Denmark at Lincoln Model UN

Joyce Stewart of Polk will serve as a Denmark delegate at Nebraska Wesleyan University Lincoln hosting the second annual Model United Nations March 26 27 Delegations from 11 colleges join the event coordinated by Beth Drake Beemer and Dr Milton D Evans Val Peterson Hastings Nebraska governor and U N ambassador to Denmark will speak at a public banquet March 26 Stewart is daughter of K L Stewart of Polk.

Banquet Honors Mothers and Daughters by Hordville PTA

The Mother Daughter banquet is set for March 27 at 6 30 p m in Hordville Auditorium. Mrs Jim Wilson of Polk will headline sharing experiences from her travels and a recent Africa visit. Tickets may be bought from committee members Carroll Ericksen Alvin Golgert Kenneth Wilshusen Bob Russell or Dwayne Hahn with early reservations encouraged.

Mrs Alfred Fetes Her Birthday With Sunday School Friends

Mrs. Alfred celebrated her 65th birthday with about 35 Sunday School classmates and friends at her home on Monday afternoon. Guests shared cards and gifts from the Baptist Church, then enjoyed a social afternoon and a carry-in lunch. Mrs. Cora Lindburg of Central City attended as an out of town guest.

Open House for Smiths 60th Anniversary Observed

Sunday and Monday open house honored Mr. and Mrs. John Smith on their 60th wedding anniversary. Rev. Hu led a prayer as nieces hosted and Mrs. Ervin Blase baked the cake. The couple have two sons Mervin and Ivan, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
