Nyberg Rites Held for California Resident Carrie Nyberg
Carrie Catherine Nordstrom Nyberg died February 19 in El Monte California at 83. Born October 13 1881 at Cortland Nebraska she moved with family to Polk Nebraska and married Nels S Nyberg March 30 1905. Funeral February 23 at Hillside church Rose Hills Whittier with services by Dr Raymond Lindquist. Burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Survivors include daughter Betty Myrberg son Maurice Nyberg two sisters Ida Hall and Victor Johnson.

Fellowship Banquet Held At Evangelical Free Church
A church fellowship banquet was held Thursday evening March 4 in the Evangelical Free church parlors. 85 attendees enjoyed a two course dinner. Mrs Reuben Wanquist presided as toastmistress. Rudolph Nyberg led devotions and choruses were led by Mrs Pinkernell. Rev. Lionald Leff of Holdrege spoke as Midwest district superintendent. Vocal numbers included a nine girl sextet and a duet by Rev. Pinkernell and John Nyberg. Other items note travels of Mr. and Mrs. Ester Lackey and Blair visitors, plus several local social visits in Polk County communities.

Easter Prayer and Merit Tests Highlight Polk County News
A composition Easter Prayer by Mrs Floyd Gorgen of Central City was presented at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reader Mrs Julian Byers and soloists from Archer Polk and Central City. The piece will be performed again in Laurel March 17 and Lincoln April 5. National Merit Scholarship tests were taken by four Polk junior students Jean Larkin Myrna Merchant Arlyce Lind and Dennis Sealey.

Miss Arlyce Lind, a Polk High School junior and Lloyd Lind’s daughter, won a scholarship to the Midwestern Music and Art Camp at Lawrence Kansas. The six week session runs June 29 to August 1 on the University of Kansas campus with twelve renowned guest conductors directing major camp groups.

Birthday observances mark March Legion event
The Am erican Legion Auxiliary March meeting presided by Velma Stephens voted to observe the Legion's 46th birthday with a Tuesday 7 30 party and a pie for refreshments. They plan a County Government Day dinner at Osceola and support veterans charities.
