Polk Baptist Church marks 70th anniversary with full day
The Baptist Church of Polk celebrated its 70th anniversary on Sunday February 28 with about 200 members and friends. Rev R M Bailey spoke in the morning on The Church That Endures while special music featured Wilbur Whitacre and the Will Lindburg quartet. An afternoon program included a historical sketch by Mrs Henry Horstman and messages by Rev Edick Anderson and Rev John Bergeson. Floral gifts and a church luncheon followed, with letters from sister churches and a full day of remembrance and faith.

Polk 4H Clubs To Be On TV In Omaha
Two Polk County 4H clubs will appear on a television program in Omaha arranged by Wes Antes and Mel Hanson of WOW Radio. The show, to air Tuesday March 9 at 12 30, features the prize winning skit The 4H Story reenacted by about twelve Polk youngsters. The Pleasant Homemakers and Jolly Juniors will perform, led by Mrs. Irvin Anderson, Mrs. Lloyd Kahn, Mrs. Harold Green, and Mrs. Ivan Cramer.

Monroe District meet crowned Belgrade as state hopeful after Belgrade defeated the Cubs 61 to 52 in the final. Runners up Kenneth Werner received the trophy from meet director Bruce Cowgill. Monroe event featured wins over Silver Creek and Duncan before a 57 to 49 semifinal upset of Creston. Seniors Werner Widga Bower and Shenk wrapped up their high school careers.
