A group of farmers south of Polk shoveled out snowed-in farm equipment for a planned sale to help Will Cline’s ill family move to Giltner. Neighbors including Rollie Merchant, Lloyd Van Hausen, Ollie Baker and others cleared machinery while women like Mrs. Guidinger and Mrs. Merchant prepared dinner for 19 men.

Final Rites Held for W. A. Whittemore in Central City
Funeral services were held in Central City for 78 year old William Albert Whittemore who died Sunday in a Grand Island hospital after months of failing health. The Rev. Dawson Park officiated with music by Mrs. Warren Riggs and Mrs. Galen Davis. He was born in 1871 in Harpers Ferry Iowa and lived in Central City since 1900, married Mary A. Sherwood in 1908, and leaves a wife, daughter Marcia McClay, three grandchildren, three step sons, three brothers and two sisters.

A capacity audience enjoyed the grade school operetta Tom Sawyer at the school auditorium Friday evening. Dale Peterson played Tom with humor, Dean Lindburg as Huck Finn provoked laughter, and Virginia Harding and Sondra Hill sang solos.
