Obituary notes Joseph S. Johnson born in Smoland Sweden on October 23 1873 died June 15 1952 after long illness. He came to Nebraska in 1892 and lived on farms near Hardville and Polk before hospitalization. He married Minnie Benson in 1897 and had six children. Burial at Hardville Baptist Cemetery. Margaret Gordon 17 died in a Polk auto crash. eight youths were in the car driven by Denny Cramer. She was struck during a rollover and died of head injuries before help arrived. Funeral at Harmony U B Church with burial Arborville Cemetery. Survivors include her parents two brothers four sisters and other relatives. A Polk soldier George Gordon was set for overseas duty after a furlough from Camp Chaffee Ark.

Naval aviation cadet Ernest H W Gleim son of Mr and Mrs Kluwer Gleim graduated June 12 from the Naval School Pre-Flight Pensacola Florida after a fifteen week course covering physical training and aeronautical and naval subjects. He is assigned to Whiting Field Milton Florida for primary flight training and will receive the gold wings of a naval aviator upon completion and assignment to the fleet.

Joseph C. McClure born May 23 1870 in New Bedford Illinois died June 16 1952 at age 82 near Polk Nebraska. He lived in Scranton Iowa Clarks Nebraska Polk and worked as a farmer teacher school bus driver and Polk Schools custodian. He married Mary Luanna Stevens in 1896 and had three children and a foster son. He joined Cooper Methodist Church at 23 and served there nearly 60 years and taught the men’s Bible Class over 40 years. He is survived by his wife two daughters and a son, two daughters in law, four sons in law, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren plus many relatives. Preceded in death by his parents four brothers two sisters and one grandchild.
