Local Families Gather for Fathers Day Events

Mr and Mrs Walter Fisher hosted a Fathers Day picnic. Osceola visitors included Carroll Flodman, Robin, and Merton Flodman. Gustafson visited the Dean Weimer home in Lincoln. Hanquist and Erickson family visits occurred with Grand Island hospital. Hoffman family hosted and visited relatives. Darold Hoffman and family joined Henry Stolberg in celebratory coffee. Ruth Kroger visited Paul Coover. Nelson King hosted Gerald King and Oxford guests. Oliver Baker attended a Rio Grande Valley picnic in York with attendees from Iowa Kansas Missouri. Robert Anderson, Sr and Jr hosted Gerald Maschmann and daughters Kathy and Gaynelle with PFC Clyde Anderson home on leave.

Natalie Hahn Speaks at Churches and Club Events

Natalie Hahn served as guest speaker at the Methodist Church in Stromsburg on Sunday morning. After services the Burneys hosted her and several guests. She spoke about a recent trip to New Zealand at a Lions Club dinner in Osceola Monday and attended the Alumni Banquet in Giltner Friday evening.

Polk Village Board Abolishes Occupation Tax and Approves Budgets

The Polk Nebraska village board met June 4 1968 at the Polk Hotel. They abolished the Occupation Tax and redirected funds to the General Fund. Trustees approved water piping costs with the school district, a $30 monthly gas allowance for the village marshal, and accepted audit and Water Light reports. Ordinance 167 the annual appropriation bill and tax levy was passed and printed in The Polk Progress. Several bills from local merchants and service providers were approved for payment.

Certificate program for under 16 tractor workers announced

The county agent reports a new law requiring youths under 16 who operate farm machinery for others to hold a training certificate. Ways to qualify include 4 H tractor project completion, FFA programs, or a 10 hour course offered June 20 21 22 in Columbus with a $2 enrollment fee.

Village bills approved and warrants drawn

The board reviewed bills including Henry Kisler labor 10.50, Dolan Hahn labor 7.85, Dick's Standard Service gas oil repair 33.26, Robert J Anderson car gas 21.37, Robert Anderson Sr Marshall duty 27.34, Polk Public Schools licenses and fines 50.00.
