Gar fishing and fish signs on a weekend trip

A group tests gar fishing at Grove Lake and nearby spots. They discuss UFOs or satellites as a light in the sky, share jokes about gar being inedible, fail to catch much, and end the day with four crappie and a six inch catfish. The note ends with a line from the Saturday Review about Bill Worthington rereading the Bible.

Baack Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Immanuel

The Golden Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Martin Baack was observed at Immanuel Lutheran Church with about 200 relatives and friends. A daughter narrated a life-picture program, grandchildren sang, and a 6:30 supper served 55 guests. Attendants included Barthold Baack, Meta Hahn, Will Kamprath, and others from York to Denver.

Galen Sterner Graduates From Kearney State College

Services Held for Mrs Edwin Glad at Polk

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Free Church in Polk for 76 year old Esther Glad who died Friday at Osceola hospital after years of ill health. Born February 2, 1892 in Omaha she married Edwin Glad November 28 1917 and farmed near Polk. Survivors include her husband two sons Gordon Polk Gilbert Aurora Colo six grandchildren.
