County Officials Meet in Polk County Nebraskain 1949 Proceedings

Polk County Nebraska county board met June 7 1949 in regular session auditing claims and approving warrants across funds including county general fund and various departments. Village of Polk trustees also met approving bills and passing Ordinance No 123 on salaries and pay, with adjournment to June 20 1949.

Doctor’s Naval Cruise Details on East Coast Trip

A physician while on reserve duty joined the cruiser Albany for a May 23 voyage to Cuba, with stops from May 28 to May 30 and return to Norfolk on June 4. Mrs. Peterson and family stayed with Commander and Mrs. R. B. Lytle in Portsmouth, Virginia, where the commander is stationed. The voyage provided dental care duties and was described as wonderful, part of a fleet including three other ships. Also notes that honeybees weigh about 5,000 per pound with average individual weight under 1/300 ounce.
