Meat sales drive a third of farmers cash income

The American Meat Institute chart based on USDA data shows meat animals producing just under one third of farmers total cash income last year. Meat animal value exceeded 9.5 billion dollars while crop receipts, including government payments, neared 31.3 billion dollars. Farmers and ranchers spent large sums on stock, feed, labor and other costs.

Milk By-Products May Create New Infant Food Market

Dr Harold Macy of the University of Minnesota and Irvine McQuarrie report favorable results from tests in Mexico on an infant food made from edible by-products of milk. They briefed leading pediatricians and foresee opportunities for dairymen and international use if further experiments succeed.
