Seven members of Polk High School class of 1926 and spouses gathered at the Hotel Cafe in Stromsburg for a reunion lunch and talk. Honored guest was teacher Mrs Evelyn Bartunek of Ravenna. The group shared memories, viewed pictures, and recalled life since graduation.
Debra L. Pickrel, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Roger Gustafson, graduates June 4 1976 from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Hastings. She has been active in Nebraska State Student Nurses Association and student government for three years and is CPR instructor. Debra and husband Alan live on a Polk area farm. she will work at Pibsenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Rony Fowler of Lincoln won the Runner-Up Trophy and Certificate of Honor at the 8th Annual Nebraska State Council of Carpenters Apprenticeship Contest held in Omaha. He was among nine contestants statewide, and is the son of Gene and Mrs Fowler of Wordville and husband of Rita Tossberg.
Four members of Polk's early football team joined the Polk High School alumni banquet Saturday night. Attendees were Warvey Alfred Lawrence Sundberg Wayne Steven and Willard Adelson with Doc Leihee serving as coach.
On May 29 the Gingham Gals met at the Braza home to practice songs for the fair. They plan a car wash on June 19 at 1 p.m. at the high school with proceeds for dress expenses. Prices are 1.50 outside and 2.50 for full service. Raindate is the following Saturday.
Mrs Emalyne Blase underwent knee surgery at Brian Memorial hospital in Lincoln on Wednesday June 2. Mrs Lillie Johnson is a patient in the Aurora hospital. Syd Scott was taken by Rescue Unit to the Osceola hospital on Saturday.
