Sunday dinner at the Mark Hawking home brought together Benedict family members Rev. and Mrs Clifford Lindgren and Mrs Josephine Stevens of Bridgeport Conn. Also present were Mark Hawkins mother Mrs Mildred Hawkins of California and David and Grace Lindgren. Carl Fuehrer and sons Brian and Bradley returned from Yellowstone and the Black Hills while Angela visited her grandparents the Lee Morris.
Farmers Co op Grain contributed 100 dollars while Trogan Seed and Polk Woman's Club gave smaller amounts. The listing documents small donations supporting summer recreation programs through community groups.
Arborville Congregational Church marks 100 years with a 9:15 a.m. service on Sunday, June 13, led by Dr. David Jamieson. A 2 p.m. program features church history, special music, and a rededication in the remodeled Fellowship Hall. Reverend Hee. John McCurdy from Grand Isle attends.
Miss Dorla L Heureux was the honored guest at a 6 30 p m luncheon on Tuesday May 25 at the home of Mrs Maurice Lindburg Jr in Stromsburg. Bridal bingo provided the evening s entertainment. A crystal shower was given Dorla by the thirty guests present. Her chosen color of shades of green were carried out in the decorations and luncheon served by the hostesses Mrs James Lindburg and Mrs Maurcie Lindburg.
Mrs Anna Guthrie and Mrs Margaret Bowers were guests of Mr and Mrs Grant Johnson in Stromsburg on Wednesday evening. Monica's confirmation was celebrated with Sunday dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs Ray Werner, Mrs Helen Wonderling, and Mrs Mary Monson. Emory Cramer hosted Mr and Mrs Larry Cramer and Susan in York for dinner, then visited Bruce Cramer and family. Gilbert Lampshire hosted the 10 point pitch club with prizes won by Mrs Paul Strand and Mrs Murray Nelson. Osceola visitors included Mrs Arthur Adelson and Mrs Noma Wright with Bartelsville guest Mrs Kenner following.
Legion Auxiliary holds its regular meeting on June 14 at 7 00 p m with a pot luck salad supper. Each member should bring one salad of her choice.
Mrs Lillie Johnson returned home from Aurora hospital on Friday. M. W. Bragg remains a patient in York hospital. Mrs Emalyne Blase is listed as a patient at Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln. Mrs Fred Laessle is a patient at Aurora hospital after surgery.
The UMW met in the church parlors on Thursday afternoon June 3 with Mrs Ed Saylor presiding. A program on Our Land was presented through responsive reading songs and the film The Land We Love by Mrs Walter Nielsen Mrs Roger Gustafson and Mrs Duane Burney. A lunch was served by Mrs Don Hudson Mrs Hannah Hahn and Mrs James Lindburg.
Polk county notes show Mr and Mrs Leroy Anderson and Lisa and Jill of Atoka Oklahoma visiting Mr and Mrs Oscar Anderson and other relatives. Shawna and Brent Hanquist of Laramie Wyoming stayed in Lincoln for a longer vacation and the Sundbergs hosted Neal Van Housen. Debra Magnuson of Central City celebrated at a bridal shower hosted by Mrs Cecil Glause in Archer.
The Polk Woman's Club sponsors the Summer Reading program at Community Hall starting Wednesday. Children meet at 9:30 a.m. for stories, library visits, and book talks, with pickup at 10:30. Sessions run June 9 through June 30 with Bicentennial tokens for perfect attendance and three Wednesdays.
Mr and Mrs Russ Kortum of Hordville announce the birth of daughter April Kay on June 4 at Aurora hospital. The baby weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Jim Kortum of Hordville and Mrs Anita Kisler of Polk.
Murray Ostberg son of Mr and Mrs Donald Ostberg earned an applied arts degree in electronic engineering technology at Milford Community College. Attending were Mr and Mrs Ilof Ostberg Mr and Mrs Donald Ostberg and Ann Larson. A steak dinner in Lincoln preceded the graduation. Murray will join Hi-Gain Electronics in Lincoln.
Community members are reminded of a car wash fundraiser on Saturday June 19 at 1:00 p.m. in front of Pelk High School. Proceeds support 4-H activities and projects. Volunteers and donors are encouraged to participate.

Margaret Jones hosted May weekend guests Enore Alfred Blakely Harvey Alfred and Larry Rickfelder from California and Arizona.
