Polk County Social Guests At Multiple Home Visits

Mrs Roy Ellison and daughters of Stromsburg visited Elmer Hanquist Sunday afternoon. Irvin Rhorst and son of Hallam joined by Melvin Brown and family of York dined with Harold Carlson family. Art Lowe of Woodstock Minn and Avia Davis of Ukiah Calif were Sunday callers at Nelson King home. Carl Carlstrom hosted Gene Simonds and family of Greeley Colo and C B Dean of Lincoln at Carlstrom home. Imogene Hanquist returned home after a Denver trip. John Adams and family of Hastings dined with Gordon Fossberg family. Mary Jo Adams visits Rita Fossberg this week. Jerry King and sons of Oxford spent Friday and Saturday with Nelson King.

Grain to India totals 33.6 million bushels

U S Department of Agriculture issued 55.3 million dollars in Food for Freedom authorizations to India under Public Law 480 Title I. Wheat and sorghum sales total about 33.6 million bushels with July 5 to December 31 delivery.

Lincoln visitors and family gatherings noted

Mrs Dorothy Gleim and her sons visited her parents Mr and Mrs Reuben Hanquist and the Roger Hanquist home in Lincoln. Friday guests at Elmer Hanquist included Ebba Hanquist Mabel Johnson Dorothy Gleim and Mr and Mrs Walter Nelson. Mr and Mrs Leslie Adelson visited their daughter Mrs Sharon Larson and her girls in Lincoln on Wednesday and Thursday. Cindy returned to spend a few days with her grandparents Mrs Larson and Debbie joined on Sunday for a couple days.

Swede Plain WSCS July Meeting Highlights

Swede Plain WSCS met in the church basement on July 12 with Mrs Wallace Lind leading devotion. Mrs Lester Widga presided at the business session. Program leaders were Mrs Alvena Lind and Mrs Alvin Dahlin. The theme focused on Mission To Sick Continents with vocal and instrumental numbers by members and visitors. Visitors Mr and Mrs Kenneth Curran and Mr and Mrs Leo Curran called on Nelson King.
