The Arborville Stitch and Stir 4-H Club met on July 12 with seven members presenting demonstrations. Topics included Arranging your Room Conveniently, Refinishing a Picture Frame, Against the Grain, Making Brownies, Putting on a Pillow Case, and Choosing a Suitable Hanger for a Laundry Bag. The vice president presided and roll call focused on cooking. Refreshments were served by Susan Cramer. reporter noted.
Mrs Lydia Peterson Mrs Minnie Wright and Mrs Anna Kisler were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs Grace Harless.
Miss Marilyn Sorensen a Cairo resident and music teacher at Hordville was seriously injured when her car collided with a Cornhusker Alfalfa truck 5.3 miles west of Grand Island on Nebraska Highway 2 at a county road intersection on Thursday. She was later listed in good condition at Lutheran hospital. The truck driver Merle E Graff was treated and released at St Francis hospital. Estimated damage to both vehicles was 3500 dollars. Sorensen was en route to Polk for the district softball tournament when the accident happened.
A group of thirty five relatives and friends honored Miss Patricia Ramsey at a miscellaneous bridal shower Sunday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Games were played and Pat opened her gifts. Lunch featured coral gold and ivory colors. Mrs W L Kerker of Tekamah was guest hostess. Mesdames L. E Blase and Walt Stohl poured coffee and punch. Assisting hostesses were Mrs Raymond Sagehorn, Mrs Lester Rehrs, Mrs Will Garling and Mrs Martin Hoffman Sr.
Mr and Mrs Irving announce the birth of a baby girl Polly Ann at Central City hospital on July 18 weighing 8 pounds ? ounces. Mr and Mrs Allen Ziegelbein of McCook announce a baby boy Kevin James born July 20 weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces. Douglas Sundberg spent the weekend in Lincoln with friends.
The Polk Garden Club held a 6 o'clock picnic supper in Polk park on Tuesday July 18 with 25 members. They discussed Bean Day activities and planned a bus tour to Shenandoah Iowa on Tuesday August 15 to visit the Earl May nursery.

Polk hosts the boys 11 13 tournament Thursday Friday and Sunday with possible girls games remaining. Yonk won the girls softball state district tournament at Polk last week after five teams entered David City York Osceola Shelby and Polk in a double elimination event. York defeated David City to force a tie break after each team suffered a loss.
Mrs Lydia Olivia Cummings 80 died Saturday July 22 at York General Manor. Born September 21 1887 in Stromsburg she lived in York since 1944. Survivors include two sons Lowell Oakland Iowa and Ralph New Canaan Connecticut one daughter Carol Van Nostrand Avoca Iowa six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 27 Metz Chapel burial Polk Cemetery.

The Polk County Farm Bureau picnic will be held in Osceola Park on Sunday July 30 at 7 PM. John W. Klinker vice president of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation will be the speaker. Bring lunch and dishes for your family. coffee cold drinks and ice cream will be furnished.
Farmers in the county must certify feed grain acreage by August 1 to qualify for 1967 payments and price support loans. Some farms have not completed certification per the Polk County ASC Committee. Wheat certificate payments are issued for certified farms and total $1.36 per bushel, based on parity minus loan rate.
Polk area residents hosted a series of gatherings over the weekend. Dennis Light and Erwin Light visited Bill Lavelle in town while Trinity Lutheran Sunday School held a swimming party and weiner roast at Buckley Park. Numerous relatives from Lincoln York Stromsburg and Central City joined in birthday celebrations for Elmer Garner Lennis Lind Rolland Bodine and Merlin Nyberg with outdoor picnics and family suppers.
