County Fair Time Opens Big Week for Polk County

County Fair events run July 27 to 30 with 4-H horse show judging hogs beef sheep dairy and poultry contests. A livestock sale barbecu e and 4-H program cap the fair while bean cutworm moths trigger pest alerts with tassel emergence guidance.

Local couples attend weddings and visits across Nebraska

Mrs Raymond Sundberg hosts birthday guests including Marcine and Muriel Branting in Lincoln. Visitors Willard Lindberg E J Bousquet and Robert McKillip visited relatives in Lincoln and Bellevue. A large group attended the wedding of Cheryl Stohl and Peter Samusevich in Lincoln with others at a Central City ceremony for Betsy Byers and Douglas Phares. Horse show highlights include Robin Flodman winning two events at Rockville. Weekend guests include Elmer Swanson and Shirley Brashears, and Harold Bishline with S F Pierson visiting Martin Hoffman Sr. in Marquette.

Sunday School Classes Visit York Places

Seventh and Eighth Grade Sunday School classes from Polk United Methodist Church visited the Woman's Reformatory and Epworth Village in York last Wednesday afternoon. Superintendent Mrs Ellensen guided the group through the facilities and spoke on Good Citizenship in the chapel. They enjoyed cookies at Epworth Village, lunch at Dairy Queen, with Mrs Forrest Anderson and Mrs James Lindburg providing transportation.
