Dr C R Peterson Burned by Firecracker on Fourth

In a Polk county notice a Dr C R Peterson sustained a burn on the nose from a firecracker during a celebration last Saturday. The item also notes a forthcoming oil drilling near the same area and a planned oil boom in Polk. The Progress crew and Mrs Helen Jewell of Lincoln plan to leave for Scottsbluff country.

Annual Stromberg Picnic Attracts 106 Relatives in Buckley Park

The 35th Stromberg picnic was held in Buckley Park Stromsburg on June 19 with about 106 relatives in attendance. A 1 PM dinner, social hour, ice cream, and cake followed, and a birthday cake was presented to Mrs. Hazel Powell visiting from Eugene Oregon. Attendees included numerous Stromberg relatives from across Nebraska Kansas and Iowa along with several from Lincoln Polk Clarks Stromsburg and Benedict communities.

Social Security visit to Osceola on July 11

A social security representative from Lincoln will visit Osceola on July 11 on the Second Floor Courthouse from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Officials named include Mrs Leck Johnson and Mr and Mrs Ben Stromberg with Darrel Adelson and the committee of Orville Millers and Jim McLeans.
