The Polk Commercial Club hosted a July Fourth event for residents sixty five and older at the park. Seventy to eighty attendees enjoyed a twelve piece band led by Robert Strickland, with meals provided by Frank Davis and Eckdahl Coffee Shop staff. A guest list recorded ages and births from Sweden France Illinois Nebraska and more. Charlotte Barkstrom was named oldest, receiving a flashlight. A club resolution honored the day and its participants amid light rain and warm thanks.

Newton W. Gairies Lincoln Extension Specialist will speak at the Polk County 4 H Club and Farm Bureau picnic in Osceola City Park on Saturday July 29. Osceola Commercial Club provides free ice cream for over 300 4 H boys and girls and offers a reduced swimming ticket price. Morning ball games, a noon basket dinner, and an afternoon program and games are planned.

Severe storm hits area on July fourth holiday

Fortieth wedding anniversary for Lindahl couple
Mr and Mrs Claus Lindahl hosted an open house at their farm home for forty years of marriage. About 90 friends neighbors and relatives attended with visits from Otis Anderson and Jeanette from Chicago and Carl Steelquist family. A 3 pm program featured a pastor tribute and music. Refreshments included ice cream Angel Food cake and coffee. A red rose bouquet honored the couple along with many bouquets and greetings from friends.

ACP Deadline Moves Up for 1939 Soil Building Practices

Rural Fire Protection Made Possible Under Nebraska Law
A Nebraska bill allows rural townships to form fire protection districts with a levy not exceeding half a mill if 60 percent of taxpayers petition the county clerk.
