Adelson Funds $10,000 Brick Store Building Erected

John Adelson awards H. E. Larson a $10,000 contract to build a one story extra fancy brick structure 50 by 60 with a basement on his lot south of Farmers Store. Jim Reeves began basement excavation Tuesday as Larson’s crew works to complete the project promptly. The building is set to host Miller Cafe Nelson and Davis barber shop and Farmers store rear room.

Farewell Party for Betty and JoAnn Carter

Mrs. J. Crew and daughter Arlene entertained nineteen young friends at the Crew home Wednesday afternoon. Betty and JoAnn Carter leave this week with their parents for Sutton to begin their new home. The Crew and Arlene were praised for hospitality and the Carter girls will be missed by their school and Sunday School friends.

Ed Johnson and family hosted visitors from York while Carlson and daughter Evelyn stayed in the Johnson home. Wheat cutting led by Warren Samuelson began Tuesday. John Gestrine Dies After Stroke At Home North Of Polk

John Gestrine died at his country home north of Polk at 9 o'clock Monday night from a stroke that began Saturday night. The 71 year old man died due to the stroke acting on his heart. Funeral services were held at his home at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Oscar Rodine Farm Sells at Public Auction in Viking Theatre

The Oscar A Rodine farm of 169 acres near Genoa Nebraska was sold to Leonard Price at a Tuesday evening public sale in the Viking theatre. Auctioneer Col. A W Thompson oversaw the sale which brought 9450 dollars per acre and was regarded by many attendees as a good buy.

Hill Pet erson Wedding in Minneapolis

Miss Tressa Hill daughter of Mr and Mrs G M Hill and Dr A E Peterson son of Mr and Mrs Claus Peterson were married in the Lutheran church at high noon in Minneapolis. Rev Kendal officiated. The couple plan to return to Polk later this month. The bride attended Polk high school and the University of Nebraska Delta Delta Delta sorority. The groom, Polk high school and University of Nebraska Medical College graduate, recently finished a Minneapolis internship and was member of Phi Rho Sigma in Omaha.

Gordon Smith Dies From Accidental Rifle Shot

Gordon Smith eight year old son of R L Smith died at York hospital after a gunshot wound to the abdomen from a 22 caliber rifle. He and his parents were at church when he found the old gun and attempted to climb a fence. the weapon discharged. An operation was performed but he did not survive.

Joe Larson Injured in Cultivator Accident near Polk

Joe Larson living six miles east of Polk was severely injured Saturday while unhitching his team from a cultivator. The team ran away entangling him and dragging him a distance, inflicting a severe leg wound. He was taken to York hospital for treatment.
