The 23rd annual convention of the Stromsburg District Women’s Missionary Society of the Augustana Lutheran Church met at Swede Home Church on Thursday June 26. The theme Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet and a Light Unto My Path guided three sessions the business meeting and two inspirational talks. Mrs Arthur Ekstrom Swede Home was re elected president and Mrs Roy Cox Osceola became treasurer. Pastor and Mrs A A Christian son of Bethphage Mission Axtell Nebraska spoke as guests. Meditations and musical numbers enriched the program. flood waters kept attendees from the north side but large crowds joined each session.

Court House Bonds Retired In Polk County After Debt Free

P A Hanquist aged 86 a Polk pioneer died Saturday June 28 at the Osceola rest home. He leaves three sons Elmer Reuben and Ebba all of Polk and two daughters Mrs Robert Lindburg of Topeka Kansas and Carl of Perryville Missouri. Funeral services are set for Thursday July 3 at the Baptist Church.
