W John Nyberg of Polk and Duane Lindblade of Osceola were awarded Certificates of Service from the Nebraska State ASC Committee. Mrs. Ella Clara Long, 65, died Monday June 28 at North Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Funeral services are Wednesday June 30 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Hickory. Widow of Rev C W Long former pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Polk. Survived by daughter Eleanor two sons Roger and Charles three grandchildren sister and brother. Obituary notes their move to Brighton Colorado in 1950 and Rev Long's death two years earlier.

Tragedy at Imperial Beach Drowned Boy and Rescue Efforts
Bobby Nieto eight year old son of Mr and Mrs Victor Nieto drowned Friday June 18 in a pond near a shopping center in Imperial Beach California. His brother Victor ten and friend Gilbert Switzer eleven tried to help while Michael Ray Burgess freed the others and retrieved the body. Graveside services were held at Holy Cross Cemetery. The boy is survived by his parents two brothers and a sister. Onlookers describe emergency responders performing mouth to mouth resuscitation before transporting the body to the pond owners.
