The Polk High basketball squad posted two wins and one loss last week. They beat Ulysses 49 to 42 and Shelby 65 to 40, but fell to Stromsburg 60 to 36. Kenny Werner led scoring with 19 23 and 15 points in the three games.

The Country Woman's Club entertained husbands and guests at the Community Hall Friday evening. Mrs. C. R. Lindholm and Mrs. Clarence Meerkatz supervised arrangements and card entertainment. High score prizes went to Mrs. Arlo Stevens and Horace Stevens. low scores to Mrs. Orlie Miller and Gilbert Blase. Sixty attended an all hostess lunch.

Pfc. Roger W. Werner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Werner of Polk, serves in Japan with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team as a security force. A two time Korea combat veteran, he is a gunner in Company H and holds the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and Korean and UN Service Ribbons.
