Polk Drive Tops March of Dimes Goal With $800

Mrs. Eldon Johnson deposits campaign money at Citizens State Bank as Polk again surpasses its $650 quota with nearly $800 raised. House to house funds, business houses, school events, talent show and organizations contributed significant amounts. A full breakdown will appear next week.

Talent Show Boosts Fund Total For Polio Drive

A community talent show at the high school raised 216.29 for the March of Dimes with a 60 donation from the American Legion, totaling 3266.29. About 500 to 600 attended as 13 local groups performed under organizers the Woman's Club led by Mrs. Lucille Johnson.

Polk Enters District Tourney At Monroe

Coach Art Phillips informed the district office Monday that Polk will face Silver Creek in the first round of the district tournament at Monroe. The event runs February 22 to 25 with Bruce Cowgill as director. Community group plans February party and polio fund gift

Members met at Mrs. Harold Mier's home on January 28 to plan a February 19 Community Hall party for their husbands. They voted a $6 donation to the polio fund.
