Rebekah Lodge installs officers at January meeting

The Rebekah Lodge held its January meeting at the Hall Thursday evening with district deputy president Nina Bond and staff from Osceola presiding. New officers include Noble Grand Harold Miller and Vice Grand Oscar Person. A pot luck lunch followed for about thirty attendees.

Marvin Fredrickson Hosts International Show at Polk High

Polk High School auditorium overflowed with about 700 attendees for Marvin Fredrickson's International Show titled The Family Party. Vaudeville acts featured Madeline King Miss Omaha 1947 and a color motion picture of Sun Valley Idaho accompanied by other entertainment from local talent.

Farmers Coop Grain Holds Annual Meeting

Polk Farmers Coop Grain Association held its annual meeting with John Eidam of Omaha and Jim Hanson of Fremont as guest speakers. Ben Peterson presided, Harvey Wochner was elected to a five year board term, Earl Stevens to a one year vacancy, and Dean Myers manages with Kenneth Upton as elevator man. The group reported 1950 net savings over 7500 dollars and grain handling totals including 75,000 bushels of wheat and 219,000 bushels of corn among 350 members.

Polk Free Church to Celebrate Fiftieth Anniversary

The Country Woman's Club held its annual party at Polk City Hall to entertain their husbands. Twenty eight members attended the program led by Mrs Raymond Sundberg with Pitch providing entertainment. A lunch was served by hostesses Mesdames Ilof Ostberg Orhe Miller Ben Peterson Robert Willits and Paul Coover. The next meeting is January 26 at Mrs Calmer Johnson's home in Stromsburg.
