The kidney transplant fund for Warren Bedient grew by 563 dollars this week, bringing the total to 853 dollars.
Beginning Monday January 19 the school bus routes will be reversed. Students who were last on the route and got fifteen extra minutes of sleep will now have to rise earlier and sit first on the bus.
Polk High basketball team coached by Richard Hoops beat Benedict 48 34 on Friday and Shelby 57 32 on Saturday to improve to 5 3 for the season. Ken Bills led with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Benedict game while Mike Lindburg added key inside scoring and Mark Woods contributed late.
Funeral services for Mrs. Howard Ellen Gnauden 46 were held Tuesday January 13 at Bradshaw Methodist Church. Interment followed at Plainview Cemetery in Bradshaw. She is survived by husband Howard two sons Elmer and Tom two daughters Dorothy Rhoads Edna Weldon and Barbara, her mother and four sisters and two brothers. Eight grandchildren also survive. Mr and Mrs Leonard Warnick Jr announce the birth of their daughter Alicia Maria on January 3 at St Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha Wisconsin. Leonard is stationed with the Navy in Vietnam and Mrs Warnick is staying with her parents Elmer Aker at 2634 93rd St. in Kenosha.
Mrs. Larry Coover returned home Tuesday afternoon from Central City hospital. Dennis Mills entered Veterans hospital in Grand Island Monday afternoon. Wayne Hill underwent surgery Sunday morning at York Hospital.
The Polk Community Club will hold its annual reorganization meeting next Monday January 19 in the Polk Community Hall. A pot luck supper will be served at 7 p m New members are invited to join at this time Membership dues are 2 50 per person Officers for 1970 will be elected.
Nebraska health officials partner with Polk Grade School to hold a Red Measles vaccination program on January 21, 1970 at 11:00 AM. Children 12 months to 15 years who have not had measles or vaccination should participate. consent forms are required.
Adults in Polk area may join a defensive driving course with four 2 hour sessions on February 2 10 16 and 23 from 2 to 4 pm at Stromsburg. The fee is $4 per person with $2 for additional family members. Register by January 20 by contacting Mrs Robert Wil lits at 765-3909.
