Lois and Ronald are graduates of Polk and Piux X high schools. Lois works at Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph. Ronald at Firestone Stores in Omaha. A June wedding is planned.
Sioux City visitor Harry Sorenson praised Polk as clean prosperous and well laid out while committee members weighed slogans from almost 100 ideas. They rejected Bean Day references and sought year round appeal with options like Corn Capital of Nebraska and Heart of the Farm Belt to inspire collective pride.
Mr and Mrs Carl O Peterson Sr celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with open house at Evangelical Free Church Stroms burg on Sunday February 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Friends and relatives invited without further invitation. Their anniversary date is February 4. Mr and Mrs Gary Green and family visited Mrs Bessie Green Friday night.
Rudolph Nyberg aged 62 died Monday afternoon at his Polk home from an apparent heart attack. He lived in Polk all his life and served as treasurer of the Polk Evangelical Free Church for 20 years and was a deacon at his death. Funeral arrangements are pending.
The Warren Bedient kidney transplant fund almost doubles in a week as donations reach 570 dollars, adding to 853 dollars from the prior week. A Community Club raffle is planned, with more details coming next week. Warren is home on weekends and will undergo three weekly Denver treatments for up to three months before any transplant.
