Polk Public Library Announces New Winter Hours

The Polk Public Library will be open 4 to 5 p m on Wednesday January 14 21 and 28 and remain open Saturdays 3 to 5 p m. Tom and Patty Lindburg and Kande Erickson of Clarks were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs Willard Lindburg.

Community Club Set for Supper and Bicentennial Program

The Community Club announces a pot luck supper at 7 p.m. Monday January 19 to close 1975 activities and launch Bicentennial events. A gospel program features twelve singers with piano and guitars. A raffle offers a 1957 Ford pickup or $100 cash, with tickets one dollar. Officer elections for 1976 and a 1975 recap will follow.

Card Party Planned for Senior Citizens by Legion Auxiliary

Methodist Fellowship Supper Featured Guest Speaker

Mr Robert Stromberg of Washington DC spoke at the Methodist Church Fellowship supper on Sunday evening. About 40 attended as he shared travel experiences from five continents and over 25 countries with the program theme They traveled. Attendees Katherine Moreno and Mr and Mrs Kenneth Stewart and others contributed travel stories while Mrs Joe Ehn played accordion and offered a Swedish prayer.

Engagement Announced for Tru dy Haas to Rod L Heureux

Fremont couple Mr and Mrs Elmer P Haas announce the engagement of their daughter Tru dy Elizabeth Haas to Rod L Heureux. Tru dy is a Fremont High and University of Nebraska graduate affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega. Rod L Heureux is a Polk High School and Kearney State College graduate affiliated with Alpha Phi Omega. Both teach at Beemer High School and plan to wed June 12 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

A sequence of weekend and holiday visits spans Lincoln Omaha and Central City. Families including Strombergs Doudna Willits Widga Strand Stohl and Sundberg plus guests from Washington D C Mankato Kearney and Stromsburg gathered for dinners and hospital calls.

Cubs Win Hampton Invitational Behind 50 45 Victory

Polk Cubs under coach Mike Fleming defeated Hampton Hawks 50-45 to claim the Hampton Invitational title. Dana Anderson scored 21 for the Cubs, with Brian Bedient 8, Randy Branting 6, Monte Hudson 6, and Tom Carlstrom 4. Hardville took third 50-48, led by Bill Anderson with 16. The Cubs also beat Trumbull 69-49 in the opening round.

Krys Johnson Leads County TAP Drive

Krys Johnson a Stromsburg High School senior is the Polk County Teen Action Program chair for the March of Dimes TAP. The January fund drive raises money to prevent birth defects with an educational film shown in county schools and a Walk A Thon planned for March 20. A MOD dance in Stromsburg is set for March as a conclusion event.

Marie Kahler is a patient at Aurora hospital admitted Monday. Mrs Lyle Dornburgh was admitted to University of Nebraska hospital Omaha and will be a patient in the physical therapy unit for four weeks.
