Polk Cubs Win Two and Set Friday Clash at Clarks

Polk Cubs improved to 6-3 as they beat Shelby 64-52 Tuesday and Benedict 64-39 Friday. Dana Anderson scored 27 against Shelby. Bedient led Benedict with 19. The Cubs held Benedict to 39 and out rebounded 43-36. They meet Clarks at 6:30 in Osceola in the conference tournament next Tuesday.

Nordstrom R M 47 Central City Funeral Obituary

Robert M Nordstrom 47 of Central City died Friday in a local hospital. Services were Monday at Salt and Dolce Funeral Home chapel with Rev Henry C Beatty officiating. Burial was in Central City Cemetery. He was born May 5, 1928 in Polk County to Raymond and Margaret Nordstrom. He farmed in Polk County, served in the service, then moved to Central City in 1961. He worked 14 years for Overland Sand and Gravel Co. Survived by widow Lucille Mouzovsky, two daughters Kristy and Susan, sister Bonnie Jean Wittgren, a niece Kathy Wittgren and nephews Joe and Dale Wittgren.

Henry Steinke Dies at 89 in Central City

Henry Steinke of Central City died January 7 at Aurora hospital aged 89. Funeral services were held January 10 at Salt Dolce Funeral Chapel and he was buried in Central City Cemetery.

Local Residents Relocate to New Homes in Stromsburg and Polk

Mr and Mrs Burdette Flodman moved into their new Stromsburg home. Mr and Mrs Harold Carlson moved from the farm to a Polk residence. Mr and Mrs Carl Brown and family have moved onto the farm vacated by the Carlsons.

Polk Girls Fall To St Edward In Varsity Contest

St Edward defeated Polk 24 to 18 after Polk led 12 to 5 at halftime. Polk struggled in the second half shooting 2 for 34, with Abbi Harrington scoring 8 and Lynette Flodman 4 as top scorers. Deb Bankson and Jan Lindburg led reserves with 7 rebounds each. Polk faces Hordville on January 13 at Polk.

Ruth Kroger will undergo foot surgery Thursday January 15 at Kennans hospital in Sioux Falls. Floyd Bittinger had surgery last Friday at Lincoln General hospital. Elmer Naslund has been discharged from Central City hospital. Mrs Dick Alderson had surgery on Saturday at St. Francis.

Junior Auxiliary Seeks New Members This Year

Polk Community Club Meeting With Supper Event

The Polk Community Club plans a Monday January 19 supper at 7 followed by a half hour gospel program by Trinity Lutheran Ladies Choir with five guitars and piano. A raffle for a 1957 Ford pickup or $100 will be drawn. tickets have sales targets and donors include Grace Harless, Grant Willits, Robert Willits, and Anna Belle Wurtz Estate. A business meeting will review 1975 activities and hall renovations as members are urged to attend with guests.
