Teachers Examinations at Osceola January 15 1949

Osceola hosts state teachers examinations January 15 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the County Superintendent of Schools office. Morning subjects include Arithmetic, American History, English, Penmanship, and Physiology. Afternoon shifts cover Elementary Course of Study, Reading, Geography, Agriculture, Drawing, and Music. Farmers Meet in Lincoln January 10

Lincoln will host about 2000 Nebraska farmers the week of January 10 for the soil conservation district supervisors meeting and the statewide weed control conference and equipment show. The weed show in the 4-H club building on the fairgrounds is open to the public with the latest weed fighting gear on display.

Sunday guests included Kenneth and Kathy Hultquist from York and George Malek from Osceola joining Mrs. Arthur Hultquist. Ret. Sterling Anderson left for Camp Stoneman after a 15 day furlough with his mother Ettie Anderson. Local gatherings featured Mrs. J A Anderson hosting neighbor ladies and belated Christmas dinner at Ernest Nyquist’s Osceola home. Annette Eckblade returned to Tulare California to teach after holiday visit. Multiple families hosted friends and relatives from California, Sterling City and Nebraska, with moving pictures shown at the Glen Hill home and lutefish supper at Hennie Seymour’s.
