The reader informs Arnold Isaacson has been in an Omaha hospital for a week recovering from pneumonia. Earlier reports warned of a worse turn, but latest news indicates he remains seriously ill yet shows signs of improvement and a hoped for full recovery next week.
Miss Lucinda Knerr marked her eighty first birthday at home on Monday with a gathering of relatives and friends including Mr. and Mrs. Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Tinker, Rev. and Mrs. Pengelly, Mrs. Steinback, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Nicholson, Mrs. McDaniel, Mrs. Olson, Miss Brock, Miss Knago, and Dr. Westfall.

Dr. and Mrs. D. H. Westfall dined with son Dana and wife in David City. Raymond Sundberg and family visited Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson. Roger Headley, Ervin Larson, and Walter Berglund of Benedict joined Mrs. Fay Beardsley for a Sunday meal. Car Axburg of Clay Center spent Tuesday with Oscar Anderson. Elmer Sandburg visited Ed Coover near Clarks, and Victor Blase and family traveled Thursday to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller in Plymouth.
Nominees selected at the Stromsburg caucus Tuesday evening include for School Board H Christensen R E Nelson Jim Branting and Ivan Bengtson. 1st Ward councilmen are John L Olson and John Falk while 2nd Ward councilmen are Fred Swanson and Dave Peterson.
Hordville residents hosted business and church visitors from Omaha Wahoo and Stromsburg and held gatherings at homes and farms during the weekend. Local sports saw Hordville High School finish the basketball season with two wins and a close Polk game.
Kenneth Christensen spends last week with father H Chris tensen then heads to Schuyler for drug store work. Mrs Frank Burgeson and sons visit Kansas City with Mr and Mrs Wayne Jackson. Church meeting at Stromsburg Baptist plans Hedburg during March. Numerous local visits, family events, and store improvements noted.

Henry Knutson conducts a public auction of the late C. M. Knutson's household effects at the Hordville residence on Saturday March 6. Col Kenneth Samuels will cry the sale with bills and advertisements to follow next week.
Arborville and surrounding families joined Mrs Hilligas and her son Lloyd for a birthday party at the Hilligas home near Hampton. Guests shared a 7 PM dinner, played games, and concluded with a late luncheon. Nearby residents from Polk Stromsburg Waco York Old and Silver Creek areas are mentioned with several dinners and visits.
Swede Home residents attend weddings anniversaries and visits with relatives across nearby towns. Local clubs meet at schoolhouse and church groups schedule events as neighbors share meals and condolences after Mrs Johnsons passing.
A Monday afternoon shower at Mrs. Nels Wilsons home honored Mrs Dorothy Renquist later Mrs McLain Wilson. Hostesses were Mrs D W Steenbach and Mrs Freda Bush with gifts games and a red white and blue luncheon. The couple plans to live in Grand Island where Wilson runs a Hawaiian music studio.
About forty five relatives and friends gathered at the Meerkatz home Monday evening to bid them farewell. The Meerkatzs left on Wednesday for their new home in York. The evening included social time and a luncheon served by self invited guests. The couple received a purse of money.
A large audience at the 1.0.C.F. Hall on Monday February 22 honored Odd Fellows members with 40 years or more and Rebekahs with 25 years or more. An oyster supper for 125 followed, then songs and speeches. The highlight was a 55 year jewel presented to E R Ware by his son Harold. Grand Master D W Price spoke.
Horton McKeag of York formerly of this community suffered three broken ribs and a punctured lung after a car demonstration incident near Osceola. He was found in a ditch around 4:00 a.m. still unconscious. His brother Harley McKeag escaped injury when a separate mishap in a rut sent his car into a ditch.
A large, enthusiastic gathering met at Osceola High School for a mid year teachers institute on February 20. Dr. Harry Bradford led classes on geography and agriculture. Edna Shores presented art problems. Nettie Mills demonstrated penmanship. Bernice Moore and Betty Schinzel spoke on English work and arithmetic methods. State Day March 1 was highlighted. lunch was served. Dr. Bradford spoke on seeing one’s self.
